Impacting Generations
Lake Eufaula’s impact continues to benefit generations. Completed in 1964 at a cost of $121.4 million, the Eufaula Dam was built to provide flood control, hydroelectric power, and recreation—and it continues to deliver on that mission today. The project has prevented an estimated $575.5 million in flood damage, protecting communities and infrastructure across the region. In addition to generating reliable hydroelectric energy, the lake has become a major destination, attracting approximately 2.5 million visitors each year who come to enjoy its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and vibrant lakeside communities.
